Visited Surfcamp Oyambre in mid August 2025
Value for money was very poor – unfortunately, we cannot recommend this camp. Reasons:
Accommodation (“Surf Deluxe”): Instead of comfort, we found damp, extremely smelly bed linen (which cost an extra €20), an extremely thin mattress (we had pressure marks on our hips from the wooden slats), and old, lumpy pillows. “Deluxe” was not the right word for the permanently damp tipi. Look closely at the pictures online and notice the editing and the wide angles.
Everything costs extra: Contrary to the PureSurf website, surfing was not included in the Surf Camp Package of ~630€ p.P.. We had to pay €150 per person extra. On top of that came further costs (airport transfer, bed linen, Paella Night, Day Trip, photos).
Crew: It often felt like we were intruding on the holiday of a group of friends, rather than being welcomed as guests.
Camping Rodero: The surf camp is part of Camping Rodero. Overcrowded, sanitary facilities far away, mostly broken, dirty, with very low water pressure. Hot water? Only if you’re lucky.
Noise: Nightly party noise from youth travel groups. Actually there are 5(!) surf camps bordering Camping Rodero. Four of them are targeted at Dutch youth groups. Lots of screaming, shouting, heavy drinking, and loud music well past quiet hours (11 pm).
Organization & communication: Chaotic and non-transparent (booking unclear between PureSurf/StarSurf/SurfTribe). Arrival at Camping Rodero? Where are we and who is responsible? Communication about refund for the failed airport transfer was very poor. Surf photos still not received (3 weeks after the camp).
To end on a positive note: the Yoga Teacher RG, as well as surf instructors Seb and Francesco were great. Thanks to them the camp gets one star.
One of the best surfcamps I've ever been at: the staff is super friendly and welcoming, there's a great balance between lots of fun activities to do and plenty of time to chill! The location is beautiful, surrounded by nature and with an amazing view to the ocean. Highly recommended!
We had a fantastic stay in the camp. Many thanks to Tanya, Mandy and their team to make our stay that comfortable and Francesco and Sebastian who invested a lot of time to teach me to get on the board with success in the end. The time was it worth!

Loved every minute! Food was 10/10, the staff were all lovely, and super close to the beach!
I had two realy nice weeks at the Star Surf Camp 😊 the team is very nice and the surf and Yoga lessons too.
The BEST surf camp around, had the most incredible week, such friendly staff, amazingggg breakfeast buffet, such a beautiful site and just gives the most relaxed/ fun atmosphere. The bell tents were perfect !! Super comfy mattresses. Great activities/ surf/ bar. Hot showers too!
come here you won’t regret it !!!
Great camp for a fun and relaxing holiday, but if your focus is on surfing and improving your skills then I would pick another camp.
The surfing lessons are fun and the instructors are great but they don’t separate the groups on level of experience. So the ones who had never surfed before where struggling to keep up and the more experienced ones didn’t really learn anything new. The wetsuits are too cold, they only have foamboards and no hardtops and there are not enough boards for everyone.
On the other hand, the beer was cheap, the crew was fun to hang out with and the beautiful nature and sunsets of Santander make up for everything!
Good food, lovely staff, amazing waves!
Loved it! Short way to the beach(8min) so you can surf everyday. Beautiful people with great energy. Definitely recommend to join as many workshops as possible they are so fun, like dance, bracelet or creative workshop.
Anya was a really amazing yoga instructor, my personal highlight 🙃
