An absolute crying shame that a campsite with so much to offer has been allowed to become so dilapidated.

This review based on my own experience of this campsite and not of the beautiful area of Lago de Sanabria.

Between our group, we own 3 campsites in the UK. We regularly visit Spain with our campervans normally out of season. As campsites proprietors, we are regulated by UK planning law and licensed by the local authority so that campsite standards are maintained at an acceptable level. If we provided the same facilities, we’d be shut down!!

It appears to me that Camping El Folgoso has been allowed to fall below tolerable standards. This campsite is a health and safety risk to the general public - the appropriate authorities should be alerted. This site is busy during peak season and is generating revenue. There are no excuses for not making necessary improvements, especially the high priority ones.

In terms of costs, the out of season charges are steep - €29.50 per night (low season) for 2 people in a campervan with electric.

On arrival, we found hornets all around the main shower building, we used our own insecticide to try and eradicate the nasty blighters but it didn’t work. My husband informed security of the issue.

The flies, hornets and mosquitoes were horrific. I suspect the bins located outside the main toilet/shower block are a breeding ground and it was clear that management knew about the issue because signs around the facility asked guests to keep the doors closed. At night hornets were attracted to our awnings lights.

There was no hot water at the kitchen sinks. Whilst washing up, the top (outlet) of a tap burst from its fitting. The work surfaces were swollen with years of water ingress and any repairs were unprofessional. We used an electric kettle to boil water to wash up.

The shower walls (painted) were mouldy and the ceilings covered in spider webs. The shower water was luke warm. The shower taps on the wall were a bodge job, they’d been replaced at some point, they looked unsightly and unfinished.

The washing machine room was dark, damp and minging.

Around one of the empty hire tent/bungalows I found rubbish strewn over the ground, it appeared like an animal had ransacked the tent via a zipped door. I suspect no cleaning had taken place after the last guest had left. A quick peek inside confirmed that the tents were mouldy and full of flies.

Moss is growing around the bottom of the main buildings which is a clear indication that the buildings are without a damp proof course or it has failed. The other campsite facilities were closed during our visit but from the external facade of the buildings they all look tired and dirty. It is assumed that they are also of a similar state.

One the whole, the campsite is dilapidated, needs redevelopment and poses a health risk to the general public. The area deserves better than what this campsite has to offer.

Llevamos varios años viniendo y este nos ha decepcionado.Los baños sucios, rotos y apestando. La puerta del lago cerrada a las 12 y el guarda huele a pegamento.

1 nacht hier gestaan op 10 augustus. Bar restaurant dicht. Sanitaire voorzieningen slecht. €48 voor 1 nacht met een caravan en 4 personen. Het meer is wel mooi maar daar is alles mee gezegd. Geen uitzicht op het meer vanuit de boscamping.

Excelente, siempre que hemos ido a estado todo correcto, es el único camping donde hemos repetido. Tiene el acceso al lago, super importante. El trato en recepción genial, limpio. Grande y con mucha sombra. Todo de 10.

El camping es muy bonito mimetizado con el entorno, buena sombra y se accede desde dentro a dos playas del lago con dos chiringuitos la parte negativa es que los baños están bastante viejos y no tienen la frecuencia de limpieza acorde al aforo y el supermercado tiene muy pocas cosas. El restaurante del camping está cerrado.

Precios caros para ser un camping con unas instalaciones ruinosas y sin aparcelar. Si está muy lleno de gente te tienes que buscar la vida antes de pagar porque no te garantizan que haya hueco o no. Los baños son ruinosos. Lo bonito que tiene es que todo es bosque y el lago está apenas a 200m. A las 00:00 marcan silencio pero sigue habiendo mucho jaleo hasta más tarde. Se aprovechan de ser el único camping grande al lado del lago. Deberían bajar sus precios
